# England fans aim criticism at Rice after Winks performance

Plenty of England fans have used Harry Winks’ impressive performance against Bulgaria on Monday night as a chance to slate Declan Rice.

The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder controlled the midfield alongside Jordan Henderson as the Three Lions stormed to an emphatic 6-0 win in difficult conditions.

Rather than celebrating the triumph though, these supporters have taken to social media to express their opinions on how much better Winks is than the West Ham United star…

> Twitter: Obviously not the big takeaway from tonight but Harry Winks was excellent. By far England’s best bet in that role,… https://t.co/FQlT4YmvKd (@glennebrey)

> Twitter: Harry winks \> Declan rice.

> Twitter: Don’t care who were playing, Winks is twice the player Rice is (@Fairley97)

> Twitter: How brilliant was Harry Winks? Criminally underrated and gives far much more than Rice does (@mattymufc123)

> Twitter: Harry 40 winks is 10 times the player Declan Rice is (@Curtis\_\_94)

### Read West Ham’s verdict

You could argue that on the back of Rice’s performance in the loss to the Czech Republic and Winks’ showing in Bulgaria, yes, the latter deserves a place in Gareth Southgate’s side more.

Rice is still just 20 years old and has plenty to learn, but fans of any club or country should be celebrating their players rather than using positives as fuel for negatives.

The Hammers ace is as good of a holding midfielder England have at the moment and he’s expected to play a major role in the upcoming EURO 2020 campaign.
