Players from Aston Villa, Manchester United and elsewhere have sent Robert Snodgrass well wishes after the Scotsman announced his retirement from international football.
He took to Instagram this morning to reveal his decision was driven by the chance of the younger generation taking his place and pushing the squad forward:

Plenty of former team-mates such as Harry Maguire, Alan Hutton and Charlie Adam have all hailed the 32-year-old in the comments of his post.
Maguire simply replied with two clapping emojis, whilst Adam wished him all the best and Hutton commended Snodgrass for ‘giving it his all every time.’

It’s clear that the Hammers winger is widely respected amongst not only team-mates of his past and present but also the footballing world in general.
His retirement from international football can only be a good thing for West Ham now, with his sole focus on taking the club forward to where they need to be.
He may only be a rotation player under Manuel Pellegrini at the London Stadium, but he’s still a major character on and off the pitch which is an asset that’s proved crucial on more than one occasion.
Happy retirement, Snoddy!
