# Gomez’s agent on future plans amid West Ham interest – why a move makes sense

The agent of Palmeiras centre-back Gustavo Gomez has opened up about West Ham United’s reported interest in the player and his future plans.

Speaking to Cardinal Deportivo, cited by [The Boot Room](https://tbrfootball.com/agent-of-gustavo-gomez-discusses-future-plans-after-west-ham-bid-reportedly-rejected/), Augusto Paraja explained how his client currently isn’t looking to leave Palmeiras…

> Palmeiras does not want to sell him now and for that amount, he asks for more and is working to satisfy what Palmeiras wants. Today he does not intend to leave Palmeiras, is very focused on fighting the championship with the club, but when the Brazilian tournament ends we will analyze it.

West Ham submitted a bid worth just over £16million this summer, but it was firmly turned down by the Brazilian club.

Gomez linking up with his international team-mate Fabian Balbuena at the Hammers would just make sense though.

They work well together for Paraguay and with Winston Reid looking unlikely to return to the first-team fold anytime soon, Manuel Pellegrini will want a fourth centre-back option.

He’s 26, so his prime years are still ahead of him, just like they are for West Ham with such an exciting squad being built at the London Stadium.

This could very well be a story that progresses because the Hammers’ interest seems concrete.
