Zagreb rejected West Ham approach for Gojak – where would he fit in?

Dinamo Zagreb have reportedly rejected approaches from Southampton and West Ham United for midfielder Amer Gojak.

The 22-year-old has made 129 appearances for Zagreb, being ever-present over the past three seasons, after joining from homeland club Olimpic in 2015.

According to journalist Miguel Rico in yesterday’s Mundo Deportivo, both West Ham and the Saints have previously enquired about Gojak’s availability but the Croatian club were not interested in selling.

The same report states Zagreb are hoping there’ll be an auction for the player next summer, with his current contract expiring in 2022.

Gojak is certainly more of an attacking-minded player and would be more likely to feature across Manuel Pellegrini’s midfield line of four, rather than in the holding midfield spot.

He’s full of creativity, flair and already has eight caps for Bosnia & Herzegovina under his belt, scoring three goals.

The attacking midfield position probably isn’t much of primary concern for the Hammers at the moment, with stars like Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals currently occupying the position.

With that being said, however, it may be worth keeping an eye on Gojak’s development because he does seem to be a future talent in the making.
