West Ham plan to price rivals out of Rice move – is it the right thing to do?

Declan Rice’s performances this season are only likely to boost interest in his services in the upcoming transfer windows, and Manchester United are currently screaming out for a new midfielder.

West Ham United may make sure Rice isn’t their man though, with the Daily Express reporting that the club will look to price the 20-year-old out of a move to his suitors.

The report also claims that Man United’s interest in Rice is still very much there and they could launch a pursuit in January, while Manchester City also remain keen.

Although the story adds that Rice is currently happy at the London Stadium and won’t be looking to force a move, when European heavyweights come knocking at your door it could completely change your mindset.

The £100million West Ham could potentially be asking for Rice is ludicrous, but a valuation like that’s bound to steer interest away from him and onto alternative targets.

If a large offer comes in for the England international and the Hammers turn it down, it could very easily turn into regret for either party if he has a change of heart.

He seems very content at the club for now though, so it’d be silly to get wrapped up in transfer talk.
