Declan Rice is having a great season for club and country, and another man who’s enjoying similar, if not stronger form, is Liverpool’s Fabinho.
The Brazil international is a pivotal part of Jurgen Klopp’s side that has started the Premier League season off with six wins from six and has rightly drawn substantial praise.
Speaking to YouTube channel Spencer FC, cited by the Liverpool Echo, at the FIFA 20 world premiere in London, Rice explained why Fabinho is currently the best defensive midfielder in the world.
At the moment, it’s Fabinho. He’s adapted to the Premier League really quickly. He’s strong and powerful. He sees a pass, reads the game well. I’ve got to say him.

Rice’s claim is a big one, but it’d be seriously hard to disagree with the positive impact Fabinho has had on the Reds.
Both players love tackling and are very good at it too, whilst Fabinho is much more comfortable in front of goal with his notable penalty-taking ability and Rice prefers to be that anchor in front of the defence.
He’s already lifted the Champions League with the club are now they’re the early favourites for the Premier League title, so he’s certainly someone Rice can learn a thing or two from.
