Plenty of West Ham United fans were chomping at the bit to pour criticism all over Aaron Cresswell as he was named as Arthur Masuaku’s replacement against Manchester United.
By full-time though, all he was receiving was love after scoring the second goal in a memorable 2-0 win and now Manuel Pellegrini may have a selection headache on his hands at the weekend.
Masuaku missed the Man United clash at the London Stadium through suspension after being shown red at Aston Villa last Monday, and now many are suggesting whether he should get his place back…

Twitter: @WHUFCFZ Agree. Can’t drop cresswell when Arthur got sent off imo. He should play Arthur on Wednesday (@Lambo1966)
Twitter: @WHUFCFZ Arthur closes down Anderson’s space to run into, in turn Anderson has to stop and plays a silly long ball… https://t.co/GCW7vnwnWP (@Aaron_Parris)
Twitter: @WHUFCFZ Interesting one … Cresswell played better individually BUT Arthur had better link up play with Anderson… https://t.co/uKe3mqHHsD (@hammersmikey)
This certain supporter wants to see Cresswell start at left-back with Masuaku utilised in a rather impromptu position…
Twitter: @WHUFCFZ @Lambo1966 With injuries to Lanzini and Antonio, I saw we start Cresswell and see how that plays out given… https://t.co/9tBKw3hlop (@SeattleAndIrons)
Read West Ham’s verdict
Cresswell was still a bit suspect defensively against United, in my opinion, but I think it’d be the right call to start him again against AFC Bournemouth.
Masuaku will have his chance to impress at Oxford, considering Cresswell ran himself into the ground just two days ago, and then it’s likely a decision will be made.
There won’t be many complaints if the Englishman retains his place in defence though.
