West Ham United loanee Josh Cullen stole the headlines on Tuesday night as he was named Man of the Match in the Republic of Ireland’s 3-1 friendly win over Bulgaria.
Mick McCarthy’s side ended the international break in fine fashion at the Aviva Stadium with a result that they’ll hope will provide them with plenty of momentum going into next month’s European Qualifiers.
After full-time, Cullen, currently impressing once again on loan at Charlton, drew plenty of praise from Ireland supporters…
Twitter: @FAIreland @ThreeIreland Very well deserved. Really tidy performance. Hopefully he can push on now. (@Green_Scouser)

Some Charlton fans also entered the conversation, letting the Irish faithful know of the ‘Lee Bowyer Effect’…
Twitter: @FAIreland @ThreeIreland Thats the Lee Bowyer effect for you… Your welcome Ireland (@StefanoFB72)

Cullen seems to continue to impress whenever he plays, whether that’s for Charlton in the Championship or the Irish national team.
His contract at West Ham is running down though, so you’d imagine a decision on his future must be made sooner rather than later.
It’d be great to say he definitely has a future at the London Stadium, but now he’s hit the ground running on the international stage it’s very likely regular football at club level will appeal to him.
Can Manuel Pellegrini offer that? I’m not sure.
