# Ajeti fails to take chance in Gibaltar rout – is pressure on him building?

Switzerland took 40 shots against Gibraltar in the weekend’s 4-0 rout, but Albian Ajeti didn’t score once and the pressure on him to start impressing could be building.

Ajeti played the whole 94 minutes as Switzerland kept their EURO 2020 qualification hopes alive, but his performance alongside Breel Embolo up front was a forgettable one.

His only appearance for West Ham United in the 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Newport County also didn’t set the world alight, so questions are maybe starting to be asked of his quality.

### Read West Ham’s verdict

Ateji needs time. As a young striker, it was always going to be hard to come to the Premier League and make an impact straight away.

He’s only started one game and didn’t put in a terrible performance marred by mistakes, so questions over his capability to make it at West Ham would only come across as reactionary.

That being said, the 22-year-old will want to break his duck sooner rather than later so questions of his top-flight calibre can be diminished.

We’ve seen what he can do from his exciting time at Basel, so if he can replicate the agility, pace and finishing ability on show there, he should be a success at the London Stadium.
