Snodgrass opens up about lack of game time – should West Ham cash in on him?

Robert Snodgrass has insisted that he won’t sulk for being dropped by Manuel Pellegrini and will instead support the West Ham United team-mates ahead of him in the pecking order.

The Scotland international was an important figure last season, making 25 Premier League appearances, but he’s started just once in the league so far this season.

Speaking to the Glasgow Evening Times, as cited by HITC, ahead of the 2020 European Championships Qualifiers against Russia and Belgium, Snodgrass seemed intent on being a good squad member:

If you’re not playing me, just be honest with me. I’m fine with that. I’m going through that state at West Ham just now. When that happens you need to be a good team-mate. If you have a team full of boys like that you’ll go further.

Even though he appears to be content with his current situation, question marks should be raised about his future at the club.

Snodgrass is a good player to have in the squad, but it was always going to be difficult to see him starting when he’s competing against the likes of Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Andriy Yarmolenko.

He brings plenty of personality to the dressing room, but if he continues to play second fiddle to Manuel Pellegrini’s main stars, West Ham cashing in on him would be a good move for all parties.

The 31-year-old’s contract doesn’t expire until 2021, so the Hammers could reel in a respectable sum for his services.

With the current quality on show, and exciting talent such as Nathan Holland and Grady Diangana yet cement a first-team place, the exit door could be on the horizon.
