Former Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan has revealed he was very close to joining a Premier League team in the summer, following a string of reports that Sevilla and West Ham United were battling for his signature.
Sevilla ultimately signed him up for €14million and Jordan insisted, at the time, that the Nervion club was the destination on is mind.
Joan’s recent comments during an interview with Estadio Deportivo, cited by Sport Witness, would suggest otherwise though:
When Sevilla called me, I knew that I wanted to come, I had almost done it with a team from the Premier League that made a lot more money, but my family, my wife and my parents were betting on this, especially my father.I didn’t care about the rest of the teams and what they offered me, I wanted to come to Sevilla. I want to grow at all levels and here I am.

The Spanish publication went on to all-but confirm West Ham are the team mentioned, but I think the Hammers have dodged a bullet with this one.
Jordan seems like a quality player, don’t get me wrong, but he’s an attacking-minded central midfielder and didn’t one of those arrive at the London Stadium anyway?
Villareal’s Pablo Fornals joined the likes Mark Noble, Manuel Lanzini and Jack Wilshere as Manuel Pellegrini’s midfield options, so you could argue there wasn’t space for Jordan anyway.
If anything, West Ham are in need of a defensive-minded midfielder to provide hot competition for Declan Rice. I don’t think Jordan would have been a smart acquisition.
