Fans react as presenter claims West Ham can finish as high as 5th

TalkSPORT presenter Darren Goughie has prompted plenty of debate after making a huge claim about West Ham United’s Premier League aspirations.

Manuel Pellegrini’s squad is one of the strongest the club has boasted in recent history, and therefore the former Essex and England cricketer seems very optimistic.

During his weekday show Drive, Goughie stated that West Ham could finish as high as 5th this season and are looking better than they have for a while:

West Ham are in the best shape they’ve been in for a long time. Realistically, 5th or 6th place is not out of the equation for me.

Many Hammers, and neutral, fans are having their say at his optimistic statement, and he certainly isn’t alone in his out-there opinion…

Plenty have completely ruled his bold claim out though, and they might have a point considering we’re only four games into the new league campaign…

You wouldn’t be wrong if you think Goughie is being slightly premature about his prediction, we’re four games in and West Ham have won two of them.

The Irons do look good though, and if they can string together a run of results you never know how far they can go under a top-quality manager in Pellegrini.

You can’t deny that, in their current states, Chelsea and Manchester United will be dreading coming to the London Stadium this season though.
