After just over a month at Malaga, Shinji Okazaki has left the club under bizarre circumstances, which has raised questions whether West Ham United should make a move.
The former Leicester City star’s wage demands exceeded the Segunda Division’s budget, meaning he couldn’t be registered just 34 days after joining on a free transfer.
West Ham sold Javier Hernandez to Sevilla for £8million on transfer deadline day, a shrewd bit of business, yet a major risk in the form of getting rid of one of the most experienced members of the squad.
Okazaki’s newfound availability has sparked conversation amongst Hammers supporters, with the general consensus being rather varied…

Okazaki would be a like for like swap in terms of experience, but I genuinely think West Ham will be okay without Hernandez.
Manuel Pellegrini isn’t likely to abandon his sole striker system anytime soon, so Albian Ajeti can continue to provide exciting cover for Sebastien Haller.
Xande Silva has, of course, been included in the 2019-20 Premier League squad and therefore is another option when fully fit again.
The Japan international would improve the Irons for sure, but his excessive salary could most certainly be used in other areas.
