Rice claims he’s good enough for Man United – should West Ham be concerned?

Since his meteoric rise to prominence at West Ham United, Declan Rice has unsurprisingly linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and a vast array of European heavyweights.

That was always inevitable, but he has remained loyal to the Hammers and continues to act as a crucial part of Manuel Pellegrini’s plans at the London Stadium.

However, in an exclusive interview with FourFourTwo, cited by Manchester Evening News, Rice has stated some things which may leave West Ham supporters a little on the edge:

Don’t get me wrong, I think I’ve got the ability to play for a club like that. But it’s all about the timing and I don’t think the timing is right for me at all. I’ve still got so much to learn.

I’ve signed a contract [at West Ham] for the next few years and I’m looking forward to playing this season and the season beyond, so we’ll just see where it goes.

READ WEST HAM’S VERDICT

Although there may be a slight concern amongst some fans, I believe Rice has chosen his words perfectly in this situation.

I’m fairly confident Rice would love to amass heroes of the past and become a true club great at West Ham, but there will always be more prestige interest in his services and he hasn’t ruled out a move either.

There’s no reason to worry for now, with the chances of the 20-year-old playing out his contract high.

His heart is at the London Stadium, and that’s where he’ll continue to flourish.
