Many are still debating whether it was risky to sell Javier Hernandez to Sevilla for £8million without signing a replacement, but Manuel Pellegrini may already have one.
Xande Silva is still recovering from obstruction to his bowel suffered just a week before pre-season, but he could be back for the trip to Oxford United later this month.
The 22-year-old joined West Ham United from Vitoria De Guimaraes last summer, but injuries limited him to just two first-team appearances in his debut season in England.
Pellegrini has kept faith in him though after including him in West Ham’s 23-man Premier League squad for the 2019-20 campaign, putting him third behind Sebastien Haller and Albian Ajeti in the striker pecking order.

READ WEST HAM’S VERDICT
Silva still remains an exciting prospect and could become a real player if injuries are kind to him from here on in.
Having a first-choice and back-up striker with a younger option is certainly the way to go and I think Pellegrini will be very happy with his options.
If the electric Portuguese forward comes good, it’ll feel like a new signing to add to the Hammers’ already-frightening attacking talent.
