West Ham United’s Twitter asked fans on Monday how many goals they think Sebastien Haller will score this season, met with, unsurprisingly, a positive and optimistic response.
The club-record signing scored a brace in his second start to help West Ham defeat Watford 3-1 on Saturday and now plenty of supporters can’t wait to see him take to the field again.
Many are expecting Haller to contribute a lot of goals in his debut campaign in English football:
Twitter: @WestHam @HallerSeb 18 in league play 22 in all competitions (@jdanielford)
Twitter: @WestHam @HallerSeb If he stays fit and plays over 80% of the games. I think 17 goals (@deportivohammer)
Twitter: @WestHam @HallerSeb Scored more than zaza, calleri, mccarthy and hugill combined…..in one game. (@theboleynboys1)
Some have their expectations lower, while some are already fearing the possibility that his head may be turned if he continues to impress:
Twitter: @WestHam @HallerSeb 15 would be nice. Any more than that and I’ll be delirious. (@Chrissieboy007)
Twitter: @WestHam @HallerSeb 18+ if he stays fit and don’t have his head turned in January (@49whufc_smh)
READ WEST HAM’S VERDICT
If injuries are kind to him and he gets more than 40 games under his belt in all competitions, I’d seriously back Haller to score over 20 goals this season.
The Premier League seems perfect for his style of play, but his tally will more than likely depend on how well West Ham play; he needs service.
Manuel Pellegrini’s aim this season will be European qualification and I think if that objective is achieved, Haller will stay for the ride.
He’ll certainly be a man in demand though and could very well be tempted to return to the biggest stage if the Hammers have a season to forget.
The man thing to remember is to simply enjoy his class gracing the London Stadium while we can…
