Following the Carabao Cup clash between Salford City and Leeds United at the Peninsula Stadium tonight, the draw will be made for the second round and West Ham United are included in the south side.

The chances of facing a lower league team to kick-off the cup campaign are high, and there is one old foe in particular that West Ham fans seem desperate to go head-to-head with once again.

The last time West Ham and Millwall met was in the 2011-12 Championship season, with the Hammers coming out 2-1 winners in a hotly contested match at Upton Park.

There has been plenty of debate about whether West Ham should be serious about prioritising about the cup competitions this term, and if a trip to the Den or hosting Millwall was on the agenda it’d be a very big deal.

Many will speculate that the draw could be ‘fixed’ to avoid such a well-renowned rivalry from reigniting, but if anything I think it’d only attract interest in not only the League Cup, but Carabao as a brand. So that speculation should be squashed.
