West Ham remain in Lopes chase – he’d complete the attack for years to come

West Ham United are firmly in the race to sign AS Monaco winger Rony Lopes amid interest in a return to English football, and it’s clear that he’d complete Manuel Pellegrini’s attack for years to come.

According to L’Equipe, as cited by Sport Witness, the Hammers are joined by top-flight Newcastle United and Everton, as well as AS Roma, Sevilla and Valencia in their interest.

Monaco are said to value the 23-year-old at €25million, €15million more than what they paid Manchester City for his services back in 2013, and despite concrete Premier League interest, Sevilla are leading the race for his signature.

A forward trio of Rony Lopes, Felipe Anderson and Sebastien Haller with Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals in the central areas could be West Ham’s attacking look for up to the next decade, realistically.

None of the players mentioned above are near their prime either, and they would develop together as they age which is a frightening thought considering their current ability.

Even without Lopes, the current Hammers attack screams goals and his arrival would only add to the club’s threat in that area. There is understandably a concern over the remaining transfer budget though.

An £8million deal is thought to be close to sign Basel striker Albian Ateji, so will the club be able to splash out a further €25m even if Grady Diangana is shipped out on loan? I doubt it.
