West Ham United winger Robert Snodgrass recently served a one-match ban and was fined £30,000 for swearing at UK Anti-Doping officials, but his attempts to avoid punishment have been revealed and one of his statements is rather amusing. When asked about the incident, Snodgrass reportedly suggested that maybe it was Andy Carroll, and not himself, who swore at the officials and said maybe they had been mistaken because the striker also speaks with a northern accent. This excuse is rather funny and it got us thinking about some other amazing excuses that have been used by athletes and coaches in order to justify their losses or bans.
