# West Ham step up interest in Hakan Calhanoglu

West Ham have reportedly stepped up their interest in AC Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu by contacting the player’s entourage, according to Calciomercato, cited by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-contacted-players-entourage-long-term-interest-leicester-city-not-also-keen/).

[The Hammers have been linked with a move for the Turkish international](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-contacted-players-entourage-long-term-interest-leicester-city-not-also-keen/) in recent weeks, along with fellow Premier League side Leicester City and Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Calhanoglu has been a regular under Gennaro Gattuso this season, however, the former Bundesliga playmaker has scored just once in 33 Serie A appearances this season.

Despite the lack of goals, Calhanoglu has impressed with his all-round play in Italy, which has caught the eye of West Ham officials.

And according to the report, West Ham have contacted Calhanoglu’s entourage over a potential summer move.

The 25-year-old has a deal with Milan until 2021, so West Ham will have to match the Italian giants’ valuation of €30m this summer to secure Calhanoglu’s services ahead of the new season.

Manuel Pellegrini is hoping to bolster his squad this summer, with West Ham keen on exploring a new transfer strategy looking to bring in younger players on smaller salaries.
