West Ham’s first season under Manuel Pellegrini has been mixed, to say the very least.
There have been spells of encouragement, with the team displaying some superb football. Conversely, other periods have been less satisfying, with consistency eluding the Hammers.
It has been something of a transitional campaign for the club, and they will need to kick on and pursue a place in the top seven next term.
In doing so, however, a further revamp of the squad will be required, and this will see players arrive at West Ham, and also depart.
Pellegrini will be keeping a close eye on the options he currently has at his disposal between now and the end of the season before deciding whether or not to retain their services.
In particular, he will be observing the performances of those whose contracts expire in the summer.
So, which West Ham stars are at risk of walking away from the London Stadium for free at the end of the campaign?
We’ve taken a look.
West Ham are reportedly set to hold talks with Zabaleta over his future. He’s been recently displaced from the starting line-up by Ryan Fredericks and sees his current deal expire at the end of the season.
West Ham signed Nasri for free earlier this season on a short-term deal. They have the option to extend his stay by a further year, but as things stand, the Frenchman will leave for free in the summer.
Adrian has played second fiddle to Lukasz Fabianski this season. His contract comes to an end in the summer, and he could seek first-team football elsewhere.
Consistent injury troubles have plagued Carroll’s time at West Ham. With his contract rapidly approaching its end, he must prove his worth to Manuel Pellegrini; otherwise, he’ll walk away for free.
