The promising 21-year-old has put pen to paper on a short-term loan until 30 June 2019 ahead of the start of the Norwegian season next month, when Haugesund travel to Stromsgodset.

Samuelsen had spent the start of the current campaign on loan at Dutch Eredivisie side VVV-Venlo, featuring 12 times in all competitions and scoring twice.

Since 2015, the talented midfielder has had loan stints at lower league English clubs Peterborough United, Blackburn Rovers and Burton Albion, gaining valuable first-team experience.

He also featured for the Hammers in their 2015/16 Europa League qualifying run just five days after netting on his debut in a friendly at Peterborough.

He’ll be playing for the team that finished fourth in Norway’s top-flight last term and he’s already been capped three times by his international side, so he’ll undoubtedly be looking to stamp his authority on this new challenge.
