# West Ham players ‘not up to’ Manuel Pellegrini’s tactics

Liverpool great Jan Molby believes the West Ham United players are unable to abide by Manuel Pellegrini’s tactical requirements ahead of his former club’s trip to the London Stadium on Monday night.

The Hammers go into the final clash of game-week 25 on the back of three consecutive defeats, all away from home at AFC Bournemouth, AFC Wimbledon and Wolverhampton Wanderers respectively, and will have to be at their best to avoid succumbing to a fourth straight loss at the hands of Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying Reds.

Liverpool will be looking to regain their five-point lead over Manchester City at the Premier League summit, and Molby has suggested to [LFC TV’s preview show](https://video.liverpoolfc.com/) their upcoming opponents are being asked a lot of by the former City manager.

> *\[West Ham\] are trying to play a brand of football that doesn’t appease the fans, they don’t enjoy it, but they are also trying to play a brand of football that he hasn’t got players to do.*
>
> *\[Pellegrini\] could do that when he was at Manchester City because the players were better. He is asking an awful lot of the players \[at West Ham\] tactically and I just don’t think they are up to it.”*

Despite the club’s nightmare start to the campaign, West Ham sit in 12th place, safely away from the relegation zone but their current run of form has been the cause of sheer frustration for Pellegrini.

Under the floodlights on home soil against one of the league’s powerhouses provides a perfect opportunity to pinch a bit of momentum as we head into the final third of the season. A repeat of Arsenal’s visit in mid-January would do the West Ham’s fans nicely.
