West Ham considering move for Shelvey
West Ham are interested in signing Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey this month, according to MailOnline.
Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to strengthen his side during this transfer window, and has identified the midfield as a key area needing reinforcements.
Shelvey, who has only made 12 appearances this season, is high on Pellegrini’s list of targets, however the Hammers are expecting Newcastle to put up a firm fight to keep hold of the 26-year old.
While the England international has only been a peripheral figure for the Magpies this season, Pellegrini admires his talent and would jump at the chance to bring him to the London Stadium.
The Hammers would need to offload players first if they are to make a move for the former Liverpool man, with Marko Arnautović currently linked with a move away to China.
Newcastle however are likely to still reject any offers, with Isaac Hayden determined to leave St James’ Park and with the relegation zone looming.
