# Lucas Perez linked with Real Betis switch

West Ham striker Lucas Perez has emerged as a target for La Liga club Real Betis, according to a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6560831/Real-Betis-line-West-Hams-Lucas-Perez.html).

The Spanish attacker has struggled to secure regular game-time under Manuel Pellegrini this season following a cut-price switch from Arsenal during the summer transfer window.

In 13 appearances for the Hammers, the experienced forward has found the net on four occasions but appears to be low down in the pecking order of attackers at the London Stadium.

The 30-year-old finds himself behind Marko Arnautovic in competition for the striking role in Pellegrini’s starting line-up, prompting speculation linking him with a return to his homeland of Spain.

Perez was named on the bench for West Ham’s recent FA Cup third round encounter with Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon and did not feature in the clash.

Real Betis are understood to be on the lookout for a new striker this month, with Southampton’s Manolo Gabbiadini having also been [linked with a move](https://readsouthampton.com/2019/01/03/real-betis-in-the-race-to-sign-manolo-gabbiadini/) to the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
