Fulham have entered the race for Gabigol

Fulham have joined the race to sign Inter Milan forward Gabriel Barbosa, according to reports.

Barbosa, also known as Gabigol, had emerged as a transfer target for a number of Premier League clubs over the last few months, with Crystal Palace and Everton joining the Hammers in registering an interest.

However Fulham have reportedly stolen a march on the 22-year striker, with manager Claudio Ranieri said to be a firm admirer of the Brazil international.

Barbosa, who has been on loan with Santos since last January, has resurrected his career after failing to impress at Inter, scoring 18 league goals in 2018.

That report comes from Football Italia, who cite La Gazzetta dello Sport, claiming that West Ham have fallen behind in the race due to their need to sell before they spend.

However, Barbosa’s work permit issue could also prove to be a stumbling block, so where the young forward could end up is difficult to predict.
