# Bologna turning their focus towards Ogbonna deal

Serie A club Bologna have reportedly turned their attention towards the signing of West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna.

It is reported by Italian news outlet Corriere di Bologna, as cited by [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/bologna-tentativo-per-ogbonna-45621), that the club are set to pursue a deal for the centre-back this month.

The former Torino star’s high wages are understood to be a potential stumbling block in any potential move away from the London Stadium in the current transfer window, but a departure is still presented as a genuine possibility.

Ogbonna has found first-team opportunities under Manuel Pellegrini hard to come by this season, with summer recruits Issa Diop and Fabian Balbuena largely favoured by the Chilean manager.

However, with the latter of the two centre-backs struggling with injury problems in recent times, the 30-year-old has returned to the starting line-up for the Hammers.

The experienced defender has made nine Premier League appearances this term, with six of these coming as starts.
