# West Ham showing interest in Skrtel

West Ham are one of three Premier League clubs eyeing a potential move for Fenerbahce central defender Martin Skrtel this month.

[According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-make-contact-agent-former-liverpool-man-face-pl-competition/), Southampton, West Ham and Crystal Palace are all looking into the possibility of bringing the experienced defender in during the transfer window.

Skrtel joined Fenerbahce from Liverpool in 2016 and has been a key figure for the Turkish giants over the last two-and-a-half seasons.

He made over 200 Premier League appearances for Liverpool in a nine-year spell at Anfield and could provide the experience West Ham need at the back for the rest of the season.

The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, but the Hammers may look to secure a cut-price deal this month.

Manuel Pellegrini wants to add to his squad this month and is keen to bring in some experienced heads to see out the season, with Gary Medel also a reported target.
