# West Ham set for talks over Medel deal

West Ham are set to open talks over a deal to sign Besiktas midfielder Gary Medel in the coming days.

[According to Turkish outlet Milliyet, via Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-set-talks-coming-days-sign-midfielder-ahead-window/), West Ham are to begin negotiations to sign Medel in the January transfer window.

The report claims that Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini is a big fan of Medel and wants to add him to his midfield options.

Medel has Premier League experience, having played 34 games for Cardiff in the 2013/14 season.

Despite Cardiff’s relegation, Medel impressed that year and earned himself a move to Inter Milan in Italy.

After making over 100 appearances for Inter, Medel joined Besiktas in 2017 and has been a key figure in their squad ever since.

West Ham are willing to pay a good fee for Medel and are keen to get the deal over the line as soon as possible.
