# West Ham keen on cut-price Drinkwater deal

West Ham would be interested in the prospect of signing Danny Drinkwater from Chelsea in January.

[The Daily Mail claims](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6491795/What-Maurizio-Sarris-outcasts-Gary-Cahill-Victor-Moses-Danny-Drinkwater.html) that the Hammers could bring the player to the London Stadium on the basis that it would be a cut-price deal.

Drinkwater is widely expected to leave Chelsea in the summer after falling out of favour under Maurizio Sarri.

The ex-Leicester man is not in Sarri’s plans but Chelsea are likely to struggle to move the midfielder on due to his high wages.

Drinkwater is believed to earn around £100,000-a-week and is unlikely to match that figure anywhere else.

Chelsea would like to recoup a large chunk of the £35 million they spent on him but may be forced into taking a loss in order to move him on in the near future.

The midfielder has become something of a forgotten figure at Stamford Bridge and has seen his career stall since his move from the King Power.
