# Manchester United firmly interested in Issa Diop

Manchester United retain a strong interest in signing Issa Diop from West Ham United, according to a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6426831/Manchester-United-keen-sign-West-Hams-Marko-Arnautovic-January.html).

Jose Mourinho is known to be an admirer of the talented Frenchman, who completed a switch to the London Stadium from Ligue 1 side Toulouse in the summer transfer window.

Since his arrival, Diop has been a mainstay in Manuel Pellegrini’s starting line-up alongside fellow summer recruit Fabian Balbuena.

His consistently impressive displays at the back do not appear to have gone unnoticed, either. Manchester United were [linked](https://readwestham.com/2018/10/29/manchester-united-enter-the-race-to-sign-diop/) with Diop some weeks ago and their interest is reaffirmed by the Daily Mail ahead of the January transfer window.

Recent reports have indicated that the Red Devils are chasing a deal for Hammers attacker Marko Arnautovic.

However, according to fresh claims, United are more keen to pursue a move for Diop, with Mourinho’s men continuing to look unconvincing in defence this season.

The 21-year-old has started 11 times in the Premier League for Pellegrini’s side.
