# Commons blasts Snodgrass for snubbing Scotland

Former Celtic winger Kris Commons has berated West Ham midfielder Robert Snodgrass for making himself unavailable for selection for Scotland.

Snodgrass told Scotland manager Alex McLeish that he did not want to play for Scotland this week due to an ankle injury.

However, Commons believes that Snodgrass is using that as an excuse to get out of sitting on the bench for Scotland.

[Speaking to The Scottish Daily Mail, via This is Futbol,](https://thisisfutbol.com/2018/11/blogs/premier-league/commons-hits-out-at-snodgrass/) Commons said this:

> Snodgrass has asked not to be picked due to an apparent ankle knock. But he’s fit enough to have played 15 times for West Ham this season. How does that work?

> I find it strange with Snodgrass. He’s a hugely popular member in the camp. He obviously just doesn’t fancy turning up and maybe not playing every game.

Snodgrass has scored seven goals in 26 caps for Scotland during his career to date and is still only 31-years-old, so has time to add to his record for his country.

Although he has refused to play for his nation this month, Snodgrass may change his mind and mak himself available for Scotland in the future.
