# Zabaleta would be open to Serie A switch in the future

West Ham star Pablo Zabaleta has admitted that he’d be keen to play in Serie A one day.

The defender has been in impressive form for West Ham this season and has established himself as Manuel Pellegrini’s first-choice right-back.

Zabaleta has recently been discussing his tenure at Manchester City with Sky Sport Italia and was quizzed on his failed move to Roma just a couple of years ago.

As quoted by [Football Italia](https://www.football-italia.net/128838/zabaleta-i-was-close-roma), the experienced right-back revealed that the Serie A giants had tabled a three-year contract offer to him two years ago.

> I was close to Roma two years ago. They had offered me a three-year contract. I thought it could be a great experience, but those were the years when Pep Guardiola had arrived in Manchester and he said that he wanted me there.

Zabaleta also went on to highlight his interest in Italian football and admitted that at some stage in the future, he would be keen to experience Serie A football first-hand.

> After so many years at City, I made a choice with my heart and decided to remain. I have always thought that I’d enjoy an experience playing in Italy, though.

The 33-year-old evidently has plans for the future away from West Ham, but his commitment to the club on the pitch is evident, with the defender continuing to shine in Pellegrini’s new-look Hammers side.
