# West Ham kept tabs on Barella in Cagliari clash

West Ham sent scouts to watch over Cagliari’s draw with Sampdoria on Wednesday night, according to [reports](https://readwestham.com/2018/09/28/west-ham-had-scouts-watching-cagliari-against-sampdoria/).

The Hammers had representatives in attendance for the goalless draw in Serie A but just who they were monitoring was not clear. However, according to a report from [Corriere dello Sport, as translated by Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-everton-travelled-watch-italy-international-facing-competition-big-boys/), they were watching Nicolo Barella in action for Cagliari.

The promising midfielder has been linked with a number of clubs in recent times as he continues to impress for Cagliari in Serie A.

Barella has established himself as a vital cog in his side’s first-team and it’s believed that Cagliari remain desperate to retain the services of their impressive midfield man.

However, interest from elsewhere appears to be building, with reports from Italy indicating that West Ham and Everton have joined the race to secure his signature.

Liverpool, though, have been most heavily [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2018/09/28/liverpool-leading-the-race-to-sign-nicolo-barella/) with a swoop for the youngster. It’s been [reported](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2018/09/16/liverpool-looking-to-beat-tottenham-to-barella-deal/) in recent times that the Reds are confident of completing a deal for Barella, who has been on their radar for some time now.
