West Ham defender Declan Rice’s contract demands revealed

Details have emerged surrounding Declan Rice’s rejected contract proposal, with an Express exclusive breaking down why West Ham’s offer was turned down.

The 19-year old Ireland international has reportedly rejected two offers of a new deal from the Hammers, the last of which was worth up to £15,000-a-week, up from his current deal of £3,000-a-week.

While Rice doesn’t want to leave the London Stadium, he wants more of an increase to his wages. According to the Express, Rice is demanding £30,000-a-week for the first three years of a six-year contract, rising to £35,000 for the final three years.

On those wages, Rice would still be on only half of what some of his team-mates are earning, with new signings Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop said to be earning more.
