# Lucas Perez rejects claims that he refused to warm up

West Ham United forward Lucas Perez has strongly rejected claims that he refused to warm up against Everton on Sunday, according to a report on [Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11685/11500647/west-hams-lucas-perez-says-he-never-refuses-to-warm-up).

The Hammers were set to bring on Perez for the injured Marko Arnautovic just after the hour mark, but manager Manuel Pellegrini decided to put on Michail Antonio instead because he was warming up.

Perez was overlooked because he wasn’t ready to come on and he has hit back at critics who claimed that he refused to come on.

West Ham went on to win the match 3-1 at Goodison Park and Pellegrini played down the whole incident.

Perez joined the London club during the summer transfer window from rivals Arsenal and has only made two appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

However, with the extent of Arnautovic’s injury not yet clear, Perez could be given his chance to prove himself by Pellegrini.
