# West Ham to host Macclesfield Town in Carabao Cup third round

West Ham United have been drawn against Macclesfield Town at home in the third round of the Carabao Cup, it has been confirmed.

The Hammers were able to advance beyond the second round on Tuesday night as they saw off AFC Wimbledon. Goals from Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna and Javier Hernandez helped them progress through to the third round of the competition in a 3-1 win.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will once again face lower league opposition in the tournament, but this time they will be back in front of their home support at the London Stadium.

West Ham have gone several years without silverware in domestic competitions and could sense a true opportunity to progress in the Carabao Cup after a somewhat fortunate draw.

Macclesfield, however, will be determined to play their part in a big cup upset, with a trip to a Premier League club sure to be an exciting proposition for them.
