# West Ham target Perez wants to play in the Premier League

West Ham reportedly could hold the upper hand on Sporting CP in their pursuit of Arsenal striker Lucas Perez.

The Hammers are said to be attempting to tie up a deal for the out of favour Gunners forward, with Unai Emery ready to let the experienced attacker depart for a lowly fee of just £5 million.

Sporting CP are prepared to offer West Ham competition in their move for Perez, but according to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/lucas-perez-targeted-west-ham-13037711?34344), the forward would much prefer to remain in the Premier League ahead of the upcoming season.

The Hammers are believed to be keen on adding another striker to the ranks before the window slams shut on Thursday, and it seems they have turned their attention towards Perez.

Given the ex-Deportivo striker’s desire to continue playing in England, Sporting CP appear to now be trailing West Ham in the race for his signature, as Perez looks to make his mark on the Premier League.

Following a £17m move from Deportivo in the summer of 2017, Perez has failed to make an impression at Arsenal and it seems they would be open to offloading the Spaniard to West Ham in the near future.
