Hammers agree deal for Paraguay defender Balbuena

West Ham have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Paraguayan defender Fabián Balbuena from Corinthians.

This is according to reports coming out of Brazil, that claim the Hammers have come to an agreement with the Brazilian side for the 26-year old centre-back.

Signed from Libertad in 2016, the Paraguay international impressed enough last season with the Brazilian champions to attract interest from a number of clubs.

Despite not mentioning a transfer fee, Cesar Merlo of Tcy Sports made the claim earlier today, stating that Balbuena would sign a four-year deal with the London Stadium outfit after the Hammers came to an agreement with Corinthians.

West Ham are reportedly in the market for further centre-back reinforcements, with Swansea’s Alfie Mawson having also been heavily linked in recent months.
