A second-half goal from Mark Arnautovic was not enough to bring the Hammers back into the game at the Emirates.
The defeat means that West Ham remain six points above the drop with four games left to play this season.
David Moyes’ men look set to beat the drop, but they’ll still be looking over their shoulder for the time being.
