# Antonio offers fans an update on his match sharpness

West Ham forward Michail Antonio has claimed that he is beginning to rediscover his match sharpness following a disappointing injury ravaged season.

The England international has seen injuries constantly disrupt his season this term, having missed a number of important games for the Hammers.

Having only just recently returned from a month-long absence, Antonio has been restricted to substitute appearances against Liverpool and Swansea in the Hammers’ two most recent Premier League games.

In back to back 4-1 losses, Antonio scored both goals for the club across the two games, perhaps adding more frustration by highlighting what could have been had injuries not been such a problem this campaign.

Having given manager David Moyes a selection headache ahead of this weekend’s match against Burnley, Antonio updated fans on his match fitness, telling the club’s [official website](https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2018/march/08-march/antonio-i-can-feel-sharpness-coming-back-every-game-i-play);

> I’m definitely starting to feel sharper. It’s taken a long time for me to get back to a point where I feel I can beat people and score goals, but my confidence is coming back and hopefully I can help the team get out of the situation that we’re currently in.

> I’ve not really had the opportunity to get into my stride and be the same player I was in the previous two seasons, because every time I’ve got close to being myself again, I’ve picked up another niggle.

> It’s taken me half-a-season to get to a place where I feel comfortable and I feel good, so hopefully I can stay fit and sharp for the remainder of the season.

> It’s disappointing that my goals are not winning games for us, so hopefully next time I score, it will be a winner!
