The club have announced that Jose Fonte has joined Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang for an undisclosed fee and will join effective immediately.

The Portuguese central defender has been frozen out of the first-team at West Ham, forcing him to make the move to China in order to gain regular game time.

With the World Cup coming up in Russia this summer, Fonte needed to be playing games and has now made the permanent switch to Asia.

Fonte joined West Ham from Southampton in January 2017 after a falling out at Southampton, now leaving West Ham after a disagreement with the club’s owners.
