# West Ham battling for highly-rated left-back Castro

Premier League side West Ham United are battling with various European clubs for the signature of highly-rated Celta Vigo left-back Jonny Castro as manager David Moyes looks to strengthen his squad this month, according to a report from [HITC](https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2018/01/15/report-west-ham-battling-euro-giants-to-land-celta-vigo-ace-cast/).

The 23-year-old has been impressive this season for Celta Vigo in the La Liga and has been a regular starter for the side.

Italian Serie A side AS Roma and Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also keen to secure the services of Castro but Moyes is confident that he can lure the defender to the Premier League.

The Hammers failed with a bod for the Spaniard last summer and Celta Vigo want £14m for the full-back this month.

Castro, who has regularly featured for the Spain under-21 side, loves to get forward and is well known for his quality deliveries into the box.

Left-back isn’t a key area that requires strengthening at the London stadium, with Arthur Masuaku holding down the left-back spot after some brilliant performances this season.

However, with Moyes potentially preferring wing-backs, Castro would be the ideal player for the left side as he is efficient going forward as well as defensively.

The Hammers currently sit in 11th place as Moyes has eased relegation fears since taking over as manager earlier in the season.
