# Swansea keen to take back Ayew in Mawson deal

West Ham could be asked to part ways with Andre Ayew in their potential deal for Swansea defender Alfie Mawson.

According to a report from the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-plot-transfer-swanseas-11774001), the Hammers’ interest in Mawson is intensifying ahead of the January transfer window, but Swansea will not sell their star defender on the cheap.

Ayew was an important player for Swansea during his spell there and was a potent threat throughout his tenure at the Liberty Stadium. Following his big-money move to West Ham, though, he has struggled to recreate his best form despite turning in some promising performances.

It’s claimed in the report that Swansea’s prime intention in the New Year is to recruit a quality attacker player, as new boss Carlos Carvalhal aims to pull the Swans out of a relegation dogfight.

David Moyes is understood to be a keen admirer of Mawson’s talents, with the defender reportedly valued at a sum of £25m.
