There was a lack of Christmas cheer as West Ham fell to a 3-2 defeat at home to Newcastle on Saturday.
The Hammers took an early lead through the in-form Marko Arnautovic before Henri Saviet, who was at fault for the first goal, put the Magpies level.
Former West Ham midfielder Mohamed Diame put the visitors in front before Christian Atsu extended their lead.
Andre Ayew pulled a goal back but the Hammers were unable to draw level and take a point.
Here is how we rated the Hammers at full time.
Adrian - 6
Should have done better with Saviet’s free-kick.
Pablo Zabaleta - 5
The former Manchester City man struggled with the pace that Newcastle offered in wide areas and was caught out a lot.
Winston Reid - 5
Reid struggled as the game went on and he should have done better to not give away a free-kick that Saviet scored from.
Angelo Ogbonna - 6
A relatively strong performance from Ogbonna who dealt with his induvidual threats well.
Aaron Cresswell - 6
You can see he is still adjusting to his new performance but he continues to impress as a make-shift central defender.
Arthur Masuaku - 6
Struggled to deal with the wide threats from Matt Ritchie but he did get forward well. Appears to have found a place in this West Ham side under David Moyes.
Cheikhou Kouyate - 5
Not one of the midfielder’s greatest games for the club. Looked off the pace after making his comeback to the first-team.
Pedro Obiang - 5
Game got the better of him at moments and he didn’t have much of an impact.
Michail Antonio - 6
Did well to win the penalty but he didn’t offer a lot going forward.
Andre Ayew - 6
A mixed game for Ayew, who was always looking to get involved. Missed his penalty but then scored West Ham’s second.
Could have easily been a seven or eight had that penalty gone in.
Marko Arnautovic - 8
Moyes is getting a tune out of Arnautovic just weeks after it looked like his time at the club was over. The in-form Austrian scored another goal and his performance deserved all three points, but it wasn’t to be.
Subs:
Andy Carroll – 6, put himself about in the final moments of the game and was a handful for the Newcastle defenders.
Javier Hernandez – 4, not much he could have done in a limited amount of time.
