Cresswell praises Moyes’ training and tactics

West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell has praised David Moyes’ training methods and tactics that have revitalised his form for the Hammers over the past month.

The left-back has found himself playing on the left side of a back three in recent weeks, alongside Winston Reid and Angelo Ogbonna, and the Englishman has excelled in the role.

It has also meant that Arthur Masuaku has been allowed more game time on the left as a wing-back/winger and that has paid off in spades too.

After recovering from a knee injury suffered in pre-season, Cresswell is now back to some of his best form he’s shown in months, and he says he is relishing it. He said’

I’m enjoying it. When the gaffer asked me to play there against Manchester City, sometimes you have to fill in when we have a few injuries, but we’ve picked up from there and we’ve kept two clean sheets in a row, so hopefully we can keep that going.

I definitely feel I’m improving under the manager and his staff. Anyone who watches his training sessions will see organisation, set pieces and defending as a unit are his main things and that’s what we’ve done.

Defensively, it hadn’t been good enough, so to get two clean sheets against two of the best teams in the league, defend really well and be unfortunate not to get something out of the game at Manchester City was very good.

Despite struggling at the beginning of his tenure at the London Stadium, David Moyes has steered his team well over the last few games, taking four points from the last two games against Chelsea and Arsenal.

Cresswell is likely to keep his place in a central position for this weekend’s game at the bet365 Stadium, with Winston Reid out through suspension.
