# West Ham reportedly offered Newcastle striker Mitrovic

West Ham have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.

It’s claimed in a report from the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5167829/Daniel-Sturridge-considering-abroad-game-time.html) that the Hammers are actively searching for new reinforcements, and Newcastle are keen to get Mitrovic off the books in January.

The forward is an established international for Serbia and has led the line for them for some time now. However, he has fallen out of favour at Newcastle and appears to be edging ever closer to an exit from St James’ Park.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez seemingly regards Mitrovic merely as a backup player. The Magpies have utilised Joselu and Dwight Gayle as their preferred options up top, prompting speculation surrounding Mitrovic’s long-term future at Newcastle.

The report claims that West Ham boss David Moyes is concerned more with his defence and midfield than his attack, but an added spark up front would surely be of benefit also.

West Ham are also reportedly interested in landing Fyodor Smolov from Russian side Krasnodar, too.
