# Angelo Ogbonna admits that he misses Italy

West Ham United defender Angelo Ogbonna has revealed that he misses Italy but believes that the Premier League has high levels of quality, according to a report on [Gianluca Di Marzio](https://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/west-ham-ogbonna-i-miss-italy-but-premier-league-is-a-top-league-conte-brings-personality-to-his-teams.com).

The ex Juventus centre-back moved to the Hammers in the summer transfer window of 2015 but took time to settle in England.

Ogbonna said:

> I miss Turin, the Italian weather and food but when I first moved here in England I knew this was the best choice for me, and I don’t regret it, the Premier League is one of the top leagues.

Ogbonna has been a regular starter for West Ham ever since he signed for the club and is a crucial part of the defensive department at the club.

However, the defender believes that the English top flight is an evolving league.

> Now teams focus more on the tactical side than before. That’s thanks to the managers they have brought in, who are among the best in the world.

The defender recently signed a new and improved five-year contract with the London club. He suffered a long-term injury last season which meant he missed the majority of the second period of the term but he is now fit again and back to his best.

Ogbonna, who has a good relationship with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte believes that he is one of the reasons that the Premier League has evolved.

> His \[Conte’s\] distinctive traits are his character and his personality. He has brought those in every team he has managed.
