# West Ham reportedly keen on January move for Islam Slimani

West Ham reportedly want to sign Leicester City striker Islam Slimani in the January transfer window.

It’s claimed by Algerian news outlet [Le Buteur](https://www.lebuteur.com/article/detail?titre=slimani-nest-pas-si-faible-pour-prendre-une-telle-decision&id=72780) that the Hammers are ready to contest a number of Premier League clubs for the out of favour forward’s signature when the New Year comes around.

Slimani was linked with West Ham in the summer but a move never materialised, with the experienced striker remaining at the King Power Stadium.

However, he has been largely out of favour this season, with both Craig Shakespeare and Claude Puel both seemingly preferring other attacking options.

Slimani arrived in England off the back of some exceptional seasons with Sporting CP, where he enjoyed the best years of his career so far.

It hasn’t worked out since, though, and several clubs appear to be keen on allowing Slimani the chance to revitalise himself on the Premier League stage midway through the season.

The report states that Newcastle United and Everton are both also eyeing a move for Slimani.
