West Ham striker Javier Hernandez has been discussing Slaven Bilic’s decision to play him out on the left hand side, the Evening Standard have reported.
The Mexican international has been operating wider than his usual central role, with Andy Carroll being the preferred option to lead the line for the Hammers in recent times.
I don’t live just for goals. I like to play football, I like to be on that green pitch if I play left winger, left midfielder, left back, centre forward, wherever.
Hernandez was signed from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee in the region of £16 million in the summer, a transfer that excited the large majority of the West Ham fan base.
I like to grow, I like to challenge myself, I like to always push myself to keep on growing, to adapt to any circumstance, everything. I love to play football.

However, he has hit the net just two times since his arrival, with both goals coming in the unfortunate 3-2 defeat away at Southampton.
The former Manchester United man has struggled to have as great an impact as he’d like out on the left, but is clearly not letting his new role distract him from contributing to the team’s performances.
It’s all about the group, the one on your left depends on you and you depend on the one on your right.
It’s a chain, this is team sport and you have to perform at 100 per cent to obviously be at your best and in the best conditions to be able to best support your team.
Hernandez will now look to help West Ham to a surprise win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon at the London Stadium.
